NEW MEMBER PLEDGE

THE 1911 QUEEN MARY CHAPTER PLEDGE

This picture of the Jacksonville Florida State Chapter of Queen Mary shows, within the shield, this pledge “I am of British birth and I will abide by the Constitution of the Order In the United States of America.” The text in red above the shield reads IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE DAUGHTERS OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE. At each end of this text are the words LOYALTY and CHARITY

Today, when a Chapter Regent says “Please repeat the Member Pledge after me”, a new member replies “I promise to abide by the Bylaws of the National Society Daughters of the British Empire in the USA and strive to further its objectives.”

NOTE: Our DBE was founded in the United States on March 15, 1909, as the Imperial Order, Daughters of the Empire in the U.S.A. On April 14, 1920 we became Daughters of the British Empire in the U.S.A., a National Society.
